tragedy什么意思

本身就是一个可变名词，即既可做可数名词也可做不可数名词。

tragedy有两个意项。

1.N-VAR 可变名词不幸;灾难;惨剧 A tragedy is an extremely sad event or situation.

例句：

They have suffered an enormous personal tragedy...他们遭逢了巨大的个人不幸。

Maskell's life had not been without tragedy.马斯克尔的生活亦有过变故。

即当特指某场不幸、灾难、惨剧，或泛指某场或某些不幸、灾难、惨剧时，tragedy为可数名词；当将不幸，灾难，惨剧看作一个整体的事件，不强调一场或几场时，为不可数名词。

2.N-VAR 可变名词悲剧（作品） Tragedy is a type of literature, especially drama, that is serious and sad, and often ends with the death of the main character.

例句：

…a classic Greek tragedy.古典希腊悲剧

即当悲剧作为一种题材时，为不可数名词；当悲剧作为作品时，强调一部或几部悲剧作品，为可数名词。
